This school of painting refers to Pahari works from several kingdoms from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Hilly (relative) isolation contributed to its distinctively bold colors and lines that were often framed by a dark red border. Though workshops combined artists of all backgrounds, broadly speaking, Basohli perspectives are flatter and temporality is treated differently than simultaneous Mughal compositions.
Some of the finest examples of these masterpieces are located in the Dogra Art Museum built in the Jammu at the Mubarak Mandi Palace.
ALASA BOMBAY is particularly inspired by these poems and paintings for their inquiry and exploration of love stories and lovers.
